SACLG received Community grant from Hume City council

South Asian community link group (SACLG) is pleased to receive  2018 community grant from Hume city council. SACLG is one of the 33 new community organisations to receive this grant for the first time in 2018.  SACLG  will use this grant to develop the community collaboration program in mid 2018 and details of the project will be made available on SACLG website.

The project aims to develop an online survey and collect information on issues faced by migrant communities while adapting an Australian way of life post migration. The project will focus on both migrant categories ( born here and overseas) to compare their mindset, perception and approach to multiculturalism. The date collected will be scientifically analysed to find major driving or attributing factors and enable youth community to take a proactive  leadership role to deal with issues and address future challenges.

SACLG aim to hold a specific workshop at Craigieburn with representatives and participants from nine member south asian communities. Workshop  will also invite Hume city council and other stakeholders as participants to share and present their ideas and case studies. This type of collaborative workshop has never done before in Hume city council. The feedback from the workshop will be valuable to find the collaborative approach to address these issues in the community.

SACLG Treasurer, Mr Hari Pandey  along with Joint Secretary  Mr Satinder Chawla attended the Hume City council 2018 Community Grants Awards evening on 13th December, 2017 held at Hume Global learning  centre – Craigieburn to represent and accept the award.
